Veteran Services

Delta College is dedicated to assisting student veterans, service members, and military-affiliated students with their academic goals, so they are ready to enter the civilian workforce. The Veterans Services Office helps secure financial aid and provides support in a number of areas.

Resources and involvement 

  • Delta College Military Association
    Meet fellow veterans, find support and get involved by joining this student organization. DMCA is committed to engaging military student, dependents, and their advocates by supporting the successful transition to the classroom and the community.  Those interested in participating should email veterans@delta.edu.
  • Student Veterans Lounge
    You'll find student veterans hanging out in the Student Veteran Lounge, located on the main campus in A008.
  • Accessibility Resources
    Student veterans, service members, and military-affiliated students can contact Delta's Disability Resources to start a conversation about assistance needed.
  • Occupational Student Support Services
    Military-affiliated students who are enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs may be eligible for additional support for career readiness.  For more information, visit the Occupational Student Support Services page.
  • Career Discovery Resources
    Military-affilitated students can contact the Student Success Advisors and Counselors to start a conversation about planning for their future after graduation.  For more information, visit the Career Discovery page.
  • LGBTQ+ Resources
    Military-affilitated students can access a wide range of services and activites that fosters an open, safe, and inclusive environment. Visit Delta's LGBTQ+ Resources to learn more.
  • Medical Services
    Delta College has partnered with Great Lakes Bay Health Centers to bring convenient healthcare services to our students. Most insurances accepted for services. Sliding fee scale available if uninsured. You may schedule an appointment by calling 989-907-2761. Walk-ins accepted.  For more information, visit the Medical Services page.
  • Substance Misuse and Recovery Support
    Delta College has partnered with Ten 16 to provide on-campus support to those in recovery or whose lives have been impacted by substance misuse.  Visit C.R.E.W. (Collegiate Recovery Education Wellness) to learn more.
  • Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency
    The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency is available to answer questions you have regarding veteran benefits and assistance.
  • Michigan Veteran Friendly Employers
    The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) has identified Michigan employers who are committed to military veteran recruitment, training, and retention practices. The MVAA updates their Michigan Veteran Friendly Employers list annually.  This information may also be found in the WhyMI mobile app.
  • Michigan Veteran Resource Service Center
    The Michigan Veteran Resource Service Center can assist with navigating benefits, identifying community-based resources, and obtain documents like your DD-214. The team can also perform check-ins to confirm that veterans are receiving their benefits (MIVet form).1-800-MICH-VET (1-800-642-4838)
  • WhyMI mobile app
    The WhyMI app assists transitioning service members and veterans to navigate employment and apprenticship opportunities, Veteran-Friendly Schools, and other benefits like healthcare in the State of Michigan.

    The Michigan National Guard has various benefits, opportunities, and supports for citizen-soldiers including resume building, job opportunities, and education benefits.

Tech Policy and Education (TPE) Council
The mission of the TPE Council is to “… support and promote organizations that help advocate and educate the population on issues relating to digital policy, literacy, inclusion, and safety.”  The TPE Council provides access to guides on how military personnel and veterans can save money on internet subscriptions, mobile plans, and other technology by taking advantage of a variety of military discounts. This resource details which internet service providers, cell phone carriers, and other organizations can assist US military personnel in obtaining low-cost technologies and services.
